Buried treasure – unearthing value from spend data
Christopher J. Carter, , Principal, Public Sector, A.T. Kearney, Ltd, christopher.carter@atkearney.com

CXO’s want true visibility into global spend. To provide this, much attention – and investment – is focused on implementing end-to-end supply chain technologies and integrating them into corporate systems. Companies do not have to wait, however, for these systems to be in place to conduct and benefit from effective and efficient spend analysis.
This presentation will outline the opportunities of closing the loop on spend and the realities of dealing with savings leakage. We will review leading practices in spend management and the important role of technology as an enabler, not as a silver bullet. Case examples will be provided where organizations have derived tangible results from investing in spend management.
