Chaher Alzaman is a Ph.D. Candidate in the Department of
Mechanical and Industrial Engineering
at Concordia University where he obtained a M.Eng in Industrial
Engineering in 2003. He holds a B.Sc. in Pertroleum Engineering
from the University of Alberta. He specializes in supply chain
management and operations research.
Mr Ambe is a PhD student with the School of Accounting and
Management sciences. He has a BSc in Management from the
university of Buea-Cameroon, An Honours degree in Commerce
(Management) from North West University and a Master of commerce

He enrolled for a PhD in Management with speciality in supply

Yousef Amer has worked in Manufacturing and Logistics for the
last 15 years, joined the University of South Australia in 2002
and is currently a lecturer, tutor and PhD candidate in the
School of Advanced Manufacturing and Mechanical Engineering. His
research interests are supply chain management, integration and
performance measurement, business process re-engineering, Design
for Six Sigma and fuzzy logic.
Muhammad Azeem Ashraf received a B.S degree in mechanical
engineering in 1992 from University of Engineering and
Technology, Lahore, Pakistan. He received a masters engineering
degree in mechatronics from Asian Institute of Technology,
Bangkok, Thailand and Technische Universitat Hamburg, Hamburg,
Germany in 1999. Prior to starting PhD research at Centre for
Advanced Manufacturing, University of South Australia, he has 10
years of industrial experience last assignment being as
automated manufacturing systems development manager at Seagate
Technology, Thailand. With certifications in DFSS and Six Sigma
continuous improvement he has a profound experience in systems
development with quality perspective.
Rodrigo Cambiaghi Azevedo is a Ph.D. student at the For@c
research consortium, beginning January 2006. In his previous
experience, he worked as a business consultant for Deloitte and
Axia Consulting being allocated in supply chain management
projects in countries like Brazil, Italy and Slovakia. He also
has experience in the automotive industry in companies like
Volkswagen and DaimlerChrysler, both in Germany. He holds a
Master’s of Science degree from the University of Sao Paulo
(Brazil) and holds APICS-CPIM certification. His research
interests are in supply chain management and revenue management.
Mohammed Amine Benkaddour received a diploma in industrial
engineering from the École Nationale Supérieure d’Arts et
Métiers France in 2006. He is currently a M.Sc candidate in the
department of automated manufacturing engineering at École de
Technologie Supérieure de Montréal, where he is developing
models for supply chain network design. His research interests
include supply chain design and planning as well as optimization
approaches. He is a student member of the Laboratoire de
Recherche sur les Chaînes d’Approvisionnement (LRCA).
Dr. Bulgak is an Associate Professor in the Department of
Mechanical and Industrial Engineering at Concordia University.
He holds a Ph.D. and M.Sc. in Industrial Engineering from the
University of Wisconsin, Madison and a B.Sc. from the Technical
University of Istanbul, Turkey.
Christopher Carter is a Principal with A.T. Kearney, a
high-value added management consulting firm widely recognized as
the global leader in procurement and supply chain
transformation. With 20 years of management and consulting
experience in Canada, Australia, Italy and the United States,
Mr. Carter assists both public and private sector organizations
in all aspects of change, especially when enabled by technology.
Recent project experience include procurement transformation at
the Government of Canada and spend analytics for the Ontario
Education Collaborative Marketplace. He co-authored “What’s Next
for Government Procurement?” published in Contract Magazine,
February 2006.
Amin Chaabane received the Bachelor degree in Industrial
engineering from Ecole Nationale d’Ingenieurs de Tunis (ENIT),
in 2002, and the Master of Science degree in Management Science
(Logistics and Systems) from Conservatoire Nationale des Arts et
Metiers (CNAM-Paris), in 2004. He is currently pursuing the Ph.
D degree at Ecole de Technologie Superieure (ETS), Department of
Automated Manufacturing Engineering. His research interests
include linear and integer optimization, multi-criteria and
multi-objective optimization, Supply chain design, Logistics,
Inventory, Routing and scheduling. He is a student member of

Dr. Yehua Chen is a professor and chairman of the department of
Industrial management, School of Economic and Management,
Yanshan University, China. His research areas are Management
Decision Theory and Method, Entropy theory and Application,
Logistics and Supply Chain Management. He has published more
than 40 papers in these areas. Among the papers, 2 papers are
included in SCI, 3 papers are included in EI.
Tom Comstock is a 20-year veteran in the area of manufacturing
software. Prior to joining Apriso Corporation, he was VP of
Product Marketing at Brooks Software, a $120M software division
of Brooks Automation, which focuses on real-time execution
software for high-tech manufacturers. Previously he held VP of
Marketing roles at Sequencia Corporation, a leader in PLM and
automation for batch manufacturing companies and at Promis
Systems a leading in MES systems for semiconductor
manufacturers. Comstock also provided sales and marketing
leadership to Palette Systems and worked in electronics
manufacturing with Consolidated Micrographics. Tom received his
BA from UCLA, Masters from UC Berkeley, and his MBA from
Pepperdine.

publications, and often speaks at industry forums and

Giovani J. C. da Silveira is an Associate Professor of
Operations Management at the Haskayne School of Business,
University of Calgary. He holds a PhD in Operations Management
from the University of Warwick (1997). He is a researcher in the
areas of operations strategy, supply chain management, and
e-operations. He has published numerous articles in renowned
journals such as Journal of Operations Management, International
Journal of Operations and Production Management, and
International Journal of Production Research. His research is
supported by a five-year grant from the Natural Sciences and
Engineering Research Council (NSERC) to develop a program on
supply chain integration for mass customization. Dr. da Silveira
is a member of the International Manufacturing Strategy Survey,
a global network of operations strategy scholars. He serves on
the editorial boards of journals such as the International
Journal of Operations and Production Management and the Journal
of Operations Management.
Tushar Daine is a PhD Student in the Faculty of Computing
Engineering and Mathematical Sciences at the University of the
West of England.
Sophie D’Amours holds a Ph.D. in Applied Mathematics and
Industrial Engineering from the École Polytechnique of Montréal,
as well as an M.B.A. and a BSc. in Mechanical Engineering from
Université Laval. She is currently Director of Research and
Administration of the FOR@C Research Consortium and full time
researcher. She is full professor in the Faculty of Science and
Engineering, Department of Mechanical Engineering, Université
Laval. She holds the Canada Research Chair in planning value
creation networks. Sophie is also a regular member of the
CIRRELT. Her research interests are in supply chain management

Anne Donaldson-Page has over thirty years of consulting and
marketing experience in the private and public sectors.
Throughout her career in industry and government, she has been
instrumental in managing engagements and providing thought
leadership in areas as diverse as strategic planning, strategic
sourcing and procurement, economic competitiveness and education
and training. Currently Anne is owner of the management
consulting firm, stratAHEAD which provides strategy and sourcing
solutions for her clients. Recent engagements include partnering
with a major Canadian consulting firm to develop a strategy for
a large Canadian retailer to turn ‘Vendors into Customers’,

Pennsylvania. He is a past chairman of the Supply Chain and
Logistics Association of Canada and a frequent speaker on a wide

Flávio S. Fogliatto holds a PhD in Industrial and Systems
Engineering from Rutgers, the State University of New Jersey
(1997). He spent a sabbatical year at the Conservatoire National
des Arts et Metiers (Paris, France) in 2005-2006, sponsored by
CAPES. He is Associate Professor and Graduate Director of the
Department of Industrial and Transportation Engineering of the
Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil. Dr. Fogliatto's
research is focused on multivariate process control, reliability
analysis, mass customization, and quantitative methods for
operations management. He received the best paper award of IIE
Transactions in 2002. He has published in renowned journals such
as the International Journal of Production Research, IIE
Transactions, International Journal of Production Economics, and
Journal of Sensory Studies, among others. His research is being

Elkafi Hassini is a Professor at the DeGroote School of
Business, McMaster University. He holds PhD and MASc degrees in
Management Sciences from the Faculty of Engineering, University
of Waterloo. In his research, he uses mathematical models and
techniques to solve business decision problems. His current
research focuses on the logistics of e-tailing, joint pricing
and inventory management, and supplier selection and
negotiation.
Dr. Head is a Field Leader in the Mechanical Manufacturing and
Aerospace Engineering School in the Faculty of Computing
Engineering and Mathematical Sciences at the University of the
West of England.
Dr. Paul Hong is Professor of Operations Management at the
University of Toledo, USA. Dr. Hong holds a doctoral degree in
Manufacturing Management and Engineering from the University of
Toledo. He also holds MBA in Accounting and MA in Economics
degree from Bowling Green State University, USA and a BA from
Yonsei University in Seoul, Korea. He is a certified management
accountant (CMA). His articles has published in professional

Professor Lee Luong is Head of the School of Advanced

Australia. He has had extensive experience in teaching and
research and development within the tertiary sector as well as
with industry.
He graduated from Monash University (Melbourne) in 1973 with a
B.E.(Hons.), and completed his Ph.D. from the same university in
1977. After graduation, he worked for many years in industry and
research organisations before joining the University of South
Australia in 1988. Prof. Luong 's teaching and research
interests cover economic analyses of Advanced Manufacturing
Technology (AMT) selection and implementation, production
management systems, cellular manufacturing, and intelligent
manufacturing systems. He has taught a wide range of subjects in
manufacturing at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels, and

St. Michael’s Hospital where her responsibilities include vendor

alternative revenue channels. Cross appointed to University of

Brian Nickerson is CEO and President of Sockeye Supply Chain, a

foremost supply chain management software providers in the world.
He has more than 25 years of supply chain experience and a track
record of successfully starting up new operations. He previously
worked as Director of Product Development for Baan, a global ERP
software supplier, where he was responsible for operations startup
and subsequent delivery of a framework for Web-based application
development. Prior to Baan, he worked for Numetrix, a leading supply

University, Sweden. He is a full professor in Operations
Research at the Department of Finance and Management Science at
the Norwegian School of Economics and Business Administration in
Bergen, Norway. He also has a Professor II position at the
Norwegian University of Science and Technology in Trondheim,
Norway. His research interests are in supply chain management,

Arthur Skuja is the Vice President and General Manager of MERX. Mr.
Skuja has held various management roles with MERX since its initial
launch in 1997. Prior to joining MERX Mr. Skuja has done consulting

technical work in the Nuclear and Air Traffic Control industries.
Mr. Skuja is active in the IT Industry. He lectures at Algonquin

David C. Swiggum, Vice President,

Keynote I
Effective June 2007, Mr. Swiggum
was named Vice President, Customer Fulfillment, Americas. In
this role he is responsible for sales support and selected
supply chain activities including contracting, order management,
product scheduling, billing and accounts receivable for all IBM
brands across Latin America, the US and Canada. Prior to this
role, Mr Swiggum held an executive position within Procurement
in IBM’s global Integrated Supply Chain (ISC) and was
responsible for the integration of IBM’s global Service Parts
Operations into the ISC along with the transformation of IBM’s
Service Parts business to an “on-demand globally integrated
team.”
Mr. Swiggum has held various executive positions within Customer
Fulfillment in IBM’s global Integrated Supply Chain (ISC). In
2004 he was named to the world wide ISC strategy team, and in
July 2005, was named the ISC country leader for Canada, a
position he continues to hold, which includes over 700
professionals engaged in global procurement, manufacturing,
logistics, and customer fulfillment. In addition, he was the
global leader responsible for all customer fulfillment related
activities for the divestiture of IBM’s personal computer
business as well as the resulting strategic alliances. Also, in
2007 he led the global team responsible for the divestiture of
IBM’s Printer brand service parts operations to Ricoh as part of
IBM’s and Ricoh’s creation of a new joint venture, InfoPrint
Systems.
Mr. Swiggum has over 23 years of experience and is an expert on
parts logistics, contracting, business controls, accounts
receivable collections, inventory, support services process
design and implementation, as well as global supply chain
leadership. He is a frequent speaker to governments and
companies looking to improve service while reducing cost. Mr.
Swiggum holds a B.Sc. and an MBA from Queen’s University,
Kingston, Ontario. He resides in Toronto with his wife and two
