Discover 125 Years of RCMP History

Post by: Denise Stasuik, Sourcing Analyst, The Mosaic Company; Member, 2010 National Conference Committee

As you know by now, the Thursday night Networking Event will take delegates to the RCMP Heritage Centre, a must-see when visiting Regina.

This year marks 125 years of the RCMP “Depot” Division.  The RCMP Heritage Centre has around 40,000 artifacts that have been donated by retired members or their families, and RCMP detachments across the country.  This exhibit is new and delegates will be among the first to take in the history of the RCMP from when Métis leader Louis Riel was captured during the rebellion in 1885 and held in a guardroom at “Depot” awaiting trial, to showing the brown fatigues worn during  training and the first female recruit uniform.

Check out this article from the Leader Post about the anniversary.
